Head of Humanities - APPLY HERE

Darwen Vale High School is a large comprehensive school on the outskirts of Darwen that benefits from outstanding facilities. We are an eight-form entry secondary school and have been oversubscribed for 2 years in a row. We have recently launched our own Sixth Form in collaboration with two other schools in our multi-academy trust (D6 - https://www.darwen6.com/).  Darwen Vale High School is an exciting, fast-paced workplace. Due to the internal promotion of our current Head of Faculty to our leadership team we are currently seeking to appoint an inspirational Head of Humanities. Our Humanities Faculty in September 2024 consists of six full time teachers along with the Principal and an Assistant Principal.   

 

What we will offer you:  

1. Support from the Multi Academy Trust (Aldridge Education).  

2. A clear open-door policy.  

3. A centralised behaviour system with centralised detentions.  

4. A strong emphasis on wellbeing with various wellbeing events timetabled in on the school calendar. A large focus on staff voice with an ongoing staff suggestion box and weekly thank you box.  

5. A school that is very much a hub for the local community.  

6. Staff socials which have included trip a trip to Aintree races and karaoke in Manchester.  

7. Access to an Employee Wellbeing Assistant which offers various discounts, access to an app etc.  

8. An extensive pastoral and safeguarding team with a non-teaching Head of Year and an Assistant Head of Year.  

9. Regular, up-to-date, research led CPD including the opportunity to undertake a range of NPQs.  

 

Our outcomes for summer 2023 were the strongest that we have ever seen. The school has been on a journey of rapid improvement having moved from a progress score of -1.12 (2017) to -0.15 (2023). We eagerly await our upcoming Ofsted inspection where we can hope to showcase all of the wonderful work that we do here at Vale. There really is no better time to join our school!

Support Vacancies  
Pastoral Mentor - APPLY HERE

Due to internal growth, we are seeking to appoint a qualified and enthusiastic Pastoral Mentor to work with all year groups in Endeavour and Inspire to support all students by removing barriers to learning that will allow them to succeed in school academically and socially.

As a Pastoral Mentor you will work closely with students who are struggling with social, emotional or behavioural problems that affect their ability to learn. You will work alongside teachers and other staff, identifying the needs of learners who require additional support help them to overcome barriers that are preventing them from achieving their full potential. You will work with a range of learners, but give priority to those who need the most help, especially those experiencing multiple disadvantages.

Physical Support Assistant - APPLY HERE

Due to internal growth, we are seeking to appoint a qualified and enthusiastic Physical Support Assistant. The aim of the role will be to support the personal care of students with physical disabilities. You will assist in the assessment of student needs to benchmark against targets set by the  teachers. You will continually review the students’ support needs and use specific feedback to help  students make progress.

We are seeking to appoint a several Casual Exam Invigilators to support with our upcoming exam season. You will be responsible for supporting the Examinations Officer and the Senior Leadership Team to provide specific support to the school in the monitoring of internal and external examinations.
