Student Council Anti-Bullying Success

The School Council has successfully hosted its own Anti-Bullying week, including the designing and selling of its very own bespoke wrist bands. The representatives have worked extremely hard over the last few months with their main focus prioritising work on the well-being of pupils at Darwen Vale High School.

The week has included a tee-shirt anti-bullying logo design competition for pupils to take part in, giving students the chance to express their creative methods through visual arts. The creative process allows pupils to explore emotions, reduce anxiety and increase self-esteem.

Year 7 pupils have also been introduced to the ‘Thank you Friday’ box which allows all students, across all form groups, to share their gratitude towards their peers and teachers. It was decided that on a Friday, thank you nominations will be read out in form-time to lift the spirits after a long week!

The School Council has been enthusiastic and very loyal to their roles within school and during lockdown. I am so proud of the maturity and kindness they have shown to their fellow pupils during an extremely difficult year. They are a credit to their school and should be very proud for being a positive part of such a great campaign.
