Remembrance Banner – Finalists Competition Winners
Just before the Easter holidays, Stuart McDonald the Managing Director at Herbert Parkinson a local textile factory, came into school to launch an exclusive competition for our students. Following Stuart’s assemblies to years 7-10, students had to come up with a design for a remembrance banner, which will be woven at the factory and then hung in school for our remembrance day service. So this was a REAL opportunity for students to not only see their work come to life but also to get a taste of the workplace.
Out of over 70 entries, 8 were shortlisted by the design team at Parkinson’s. These 8 lucky winners spent the morning at the factory ‘pitching’ their designs to the management team. It was a terrific experience for the students and despite the nerves they all did a marvellous job.
