Heritage morning was a huge success on Saturday the 15th September. It was part of the National Heritage open days and organised by Darwen Vale school staff Cathy Kenyon and Debbie Welsh. The event saw Cathy and Debbie digging out a plethora of Darwen Vale Memorabilia dating back to 1904! Collections of old photographs, school magazines, inspection reports and even the odd handwritten Head teachers report were pored over by visitors, ex pupils and current and past staff with avid fascination. The event also combined Heritage day with a Macmillan coffee morning and a number of parents who had missed our packed out open evening the previous week used it as an opportunity to tour the school and quiz staff and students alike. On that note our prefects were amazing and this was commented on by a number of our external guests. Emily Benn our Head girl had demonstrated her Aldridge attributes of teamwork and determination by mobilising her colleagues in the student leadership team.
Among the great and good who descended upon Vale were Pat McFall the Mayor of Blackburn, pictured with Emily Benn – Head Girl and Lucy Morton – senior prefect .
