Ellie REALLY makes it REAL

Ellie hard at work creating her banner

Following the success of the banner competition that we launched in co-operation with Herbert Parkinson’s, a local employer and part of the John Lewis Group, Ellie Gaynor from our Year 7 cohort spent 2 days in the factory making her design come to life.

Ellie’s remembrance banner idea was the one chosen by a group of judges from Parkinson’s management team, not only had Ellie to design it she also had to pitch her idea as well. After being chosen winner Ellie then not only helped put her design onto fabric she also oversaw the whole operation, from design to finishing. Ellie was made to feel part of the team by the staff in the factory, and she also took along her proud mum to support and assist her.

All the staff who she came into contact with complimented Ellie on not only her creative edge but also her determination and organising skills in bringing the whole project together.

The finished banner will hang proudly in school, and will play a prominent part in the school’s annual remembrance assembly.

It’s great to see the finished banner and a huge thanks not only to Ellie for her hard work and enthusiasm but also to Stuart the MD at Parkinson’s who launched this competition by doing assemblies in school and of course the whole team at Parkinson’s who we have worked with throughout this academic year.
