Darwen Vale Students Celebrate GCSE Successes

Darwen Vale High School has seen a strong improvement in GCSE results this year with the overall percentage of students obtaining 5 or more GCSEs at A*-C grade including English and Maths up by 11% points. The school has also seen a significant rise in the numbers of passes at the top A* and A grades.

Individual students were celebrating some remarkable successes including:

Jessica Ballard, who gained 3A* and 4As

Lewis Wright – 3A*s and 3As

Sally Maguire – 2A*s and 8 As

Harriet Eynon – 2A*s and 5 As

Abbie Littler – 3A*s and 2 As

Principal Fiona Jack said: “I’m delighted with the jump in our overall results and particularly pleased with improvements in the critical core subjects of Maths and English. The number of Vale students achieving A*-C in English is up by 17% to an impressive 75%, well over the national figure, and the number achieving better than expected progress has nearly doubled this year. Maths has also improved (63%).”
