Cross Country 2016

The annual Blackburn and Darwen schools cross country gala took place on Saturday 2nd December at Witton Park. For once the weather was kind to the runners, staff and spectators. The Y7 girls where first to run and they didn’t disappoint. Leah Hoole was neck and neck with a runner from Westholme all the way to the finish line, where she was beaten at the post to finish in 2nd place. The Y7 girl’s team finished 3rd out of 9 schools which was an outstanding achievement. The Y8-9 teams both ran very well with no runner outside the top 50. The last race of the day was the boys Y10/Y11. For the first time in a long while, we had a full team of boys running, led brilliantly by Bradley Meikleham. He finished in 3rd place to two Y11 pupils from St.Bedes and so being named the best Y10 runner in the borough. We really appreciate all the runners’ efforts throughout the day and thank all the parents who managed to get the pupils out of bed on a cold Saturday in December.
