Centenary since the Death of Private Goodwin (Manchester Regiment)

11th October 1915 a soldier from India Street, Darwen, dies fighting for his country on the battlefield.

Many years later the pupils of Darwen Vale adopt the grave and tend for it, keeping the memory of the First World War alive for another generation.

A century since Private J T Goodwin died, he was remembered by pupils of the school, represented by the head girl and boy at the grave in Darwen Cemetery.
